I Know What You’ll Be Doing This October..

New “I Know What You Did Last Summer” series is set to premiere on Amazon

Based on the 1973 novel and iconic 1997 slasher film of the same name, this reboot is an updated version of the classic movie. Exciting horror fans everywhere, the series will be premiering on Amazon Prime Video on Friday, October 15th. The story features four teenagers that were involved in a car accident after celebrating their graduation. This essentially sets off the plot as they thought they killed a person, but someone starts to leave messages like “I know what you did last summer.” This of course adds paranoia because the teens promised each other they wouldn’t tell anyone. So was it a bystander? The person they supposedly killed? You’ll have to see for yourself!

This series will give a more updated perspective of the story, hopefully keeping the same psychological elements of the past film.

As some people may be against all these horror reboots, the original did challenge some of the classic horror movie tropes, as horror fan Jada Nash discusses. They were complex characters that coped with this “cat-and-mouse” chase in different ways as they were trying to wrap their heads around this mystery. Hopefully the newest reboot will stay true to that, and convince more people to watch the original, just in time for Halloween..

Something also mentioned in the interview above is that the original movie didn’t necessarily feature a lot of gore, which is actually something that the makeup artist pointed out, “that it was the least bloody movie he’s worked on.” This could’ve been an opportunity for the director to add even more creative kill sequences and use that to add more to the series and give an element of surprise to those that have seen the original.

This series stars Madison Iseman, Bill Heck, Brianne Tju, Ezekiel Goodman, Ashley Moore, Sebastian Amoruso, Fiona Rene, Cassie Beck, and Brooke Bloom. Be sure to check out this upcoming show on Amazon Prime Video for a new twist on a classic horror film.
